SilverKottage has been Touched

by admin on Mar.11, 2010, under Website Updates

Now you can touch my site.

Found out a nifty plugin for Wordpress accounts called WPtouch. It converts your Wordpress powered site into a smartphone friendly theme format that mimics the Apple Apps store.

I don’t have an iPhone, so I have to wait till I test this website on a friend’s phone or go to the Apple store and check it out.

The currently enabled user-agents are: android, blackberry9500, blackberry9530, cupcake, dream, incognito, iphone, ipod, mini, webOS, webmate.

New Link – Shane Hurlbut’s Blog

by admin on Mar.10, 2010, under Website Updates

I stumbled upon Shane Hurlbut’s blog when I was on DSLRShooter as they wrote an article about his insights in HDDSLR technology.

504x_504x_5d_helmet_01Shane’s other hobbies are to make gadgets, such as the Canon 5D helmet.

Going to Shane’s website, it was a plethora of information and advice on how HDDSLR can and should be used for film. Philip Bloom is all good with announcing all the latest gadgets and his timelapse films but Shane goes more in depth about which gear to use and why… suddenly, I want to start saving up for Zeiss lenses!

dressed-up-on-a-headAh, the life of a pro filmaker…

It was also interesting to find out that Shane was the DP of Terminator Salvation and shot webisodes on the Canon 5D for that film. Oh, and he was the person that Christian Bale went crazy at… now I see two passionate people about their work that were at the wrong spot at the wrong time…

Hhmmm, all these cinematographer blogs and gear blogs I’m reading… I should be finding me some Director and Writer blogs too! So that instead of getting inspired to buy new gear, I should be writing and shooting…

dressed-up-to-the-ninesImagine shooting a wedding with that.

New Section – Wedding Page

by admin on Oct.02, 2009, under Website Updates, Weddings

Now that I’m working on many more Wedding films, I’ve created a new page called “Wedding Films”.
The link is on the top right menu bar or you can click here to go to it.
This will make it just a bit easier for visitors of my site to watch the collection of Weddings that I have worked on.

Thanks!
Bernard

Busy

by admin on Apr.03, 2009, under Miscellaneous, Short Films, Website Updates

The past few months sure have been busy. And to think that I would’ve started filming in March… how wrong was I to think that.

January was busy with training a new member into the Events Team and three major events. Being the Chinese New Year Media Launch, Australia Day Celebrations and Chinese New Year Celebrations. Also initial casting for Panda: White and Black.

Chinese New Year OX Australia Day

February I was in Japan. Panda: White and Black now has been renamed to just White and Black. It has been redrafted many times since then.

March was the big one, with two events every week and ending with an Earth Hour Festival. Also, I’ve been a secondary camera for Paper Cranes productions for a few weekends now. Check their site out, they do great Wedding videos.

The story of White and Black has expanded and character names have changed. Panda is now called Cedric “Tally” Ho but is essentially still the same torn character that wants to get out of the criminal world but vowed to revenge.

From a 7 page short to a 50 page mini feature, this project has gotten a lot larger than anticipated but the excitement is still there. I can’t wait to start secondray casting later this month.

Casting call for White and Black can be found here. I use Starnow to put up ads. It’s for free, and there’s a large pool of Australian talent, highly recommended.

reboot

by admin on Oct.11, 2008, under Website Updates

Back in Sydney for the past 4 months and working pretty hectically in the Event Management field, I would say that I’ve finally got time now to come back to SilverKottage and also, to work on pre-production of my next short film.

Less than 3: NY has been finally re-cut and re-soundtracked. It has also been renamed to New York Hikkikomori. Soundtrack was provided by the cool guys at: BIRDAUTOMATIC
A big thank you to lead singer, Chris Bradstreet for allowing me to use their music in my short.

I entered my short to Tropfest NY. Unfortunately, it didn’t get a placing, but congratulations to  Jason van Genderen, a film maker from Gosford, NSW, Aus, for winning the top prize. He also won another film comp I entered a few months earlier also… So, time to work harder. You can watch his winning entry on youtube.
Mankind is no Island

I’ve also reverted this website to the default Wordpress theme. I feel that I needed to do this so that I can learn how to utilise the power of Wordpress fully.

Cheers,

Bernard.
