May Weddings
by admin on May.16, 2010, under Weddings
Yesterday, I would say was one of the smoothest Weddings I have filmed. It is a great testament to how well organised the bride and groom, Thao and John, planned their day. We were running a bit late in the morning, but as the day went by, things started to catch up and even in the reception, things were running ahead of schedule
There were many romantic and funny moments of the day and there were so many children around, it was cuteness overload. But words can only do so much, so here is Thao and John’s big day, a Same Day Edit shown on their night… again, I would say Santo is one crazy editor, putting footage in the edit that was only shot 30mins prior to being shown!
Did you like that?
Well, that’s not the only Wedding this month. Earlier in May, we shot Lillian and Andy’s Wedding. The ceremony was at the visually spectacular, McMahon’s Point and the reception was at the Shang Ri La. Again, we showed our footage at the reception to a crowd of over 30 tables! Enjoy.
Hhhmmm, seems like Same Day Edits are very popular! And it’s all because of excellent teamwork and an editor that can create an emotional story with the footage he is given. A lot of people can edit, but not many people can edit with meaning into it. I’m starting to not like the term Same Day Edit, or SDE… I think we have to find a nicer name for it so people won’t have to ask us to explain what it is, even though it’s obvious. Maybe something along the lines of “Instant recap” would be better?
Vincent and Lisa Prewedding – Their Story
by admin on Apr.27, 2010, under Events, Weddings
The past few weeks have been HECTIC.
Work has been crazy busy with the Heritage Festival… running an awards night and the lead up to the awards is hard work and very time consuming.
Then within the same week, I moved out to a new apartment and also, I’ve been slaving away on my best friend’s Prewedding film for a couple of weeks too.

I’ve known Vincent and Lisa since my first days at University, studying Computer Science and they’ve been great friends ever since. I had the honour of being Vincent’s best man on his big day and to top it off, as a gift, I made a Prewedding film for them.
It was great, I haven’t shot a narrative piece by myself since I was in New York in 2008 with my Sony FX1. And now, with my Canon 7D and having full control, I was back to where I’ve always wanted to be, directing.
Without going on and on, here is the Prewedding film:
Being back in the Director’s chair was fun and since I edited also, I really got to fine tune my skills in saying no to footage that we shot. I’d say we had another 3 scenes that did not make the final cut.
Then to top the night off in the end, PaperCranes finished the evening with an awesome SDE. The dance in the end was only filmed 30mins before the film was shown! SANTO YOU ARE CRAZY!
Wedding Film Update
by admin on Mar.04, 2010, under Weddings
Haven’t had a chance to post up some wedding films that I shot with Paper Cranes last year, so here they are.
We’re flat out at the moment, well mostly Santo and Dewi, since they got married in December 2009 so there haven’t been much trailers up…
But here are some that are. Enjoy
Kelvin and Tania Cinematic Wedding Trailer (Same Day Edit)
We were given a day of sunshine and wind, but for Kelvin and Tania, thank you for choosing us as your videographer. We are glad that they were happy with the SDE and the evening celebrations were full of heat and entertainment.
THIS MUCH – a prewedding film of James and Thao
James and Thao are a very cute and sweet couple. They are the type of people who appreciate and respect others very much. They wanted their prewedding film to tell the story of how they met each other and how James proposed for Thao’s hand in marriage. We are so proud to tell such a lovely true story and to show the finished film on their reception night 31st October 2009.
Samantha and Dalvin Cinematic Wedding Trailer
Sam and Dalvin are very cute couple. One sentence to describe them “They love their dog COCO so MUCH!!!” ok maybe that’s not a good description, but thats my take on it anyway
Coco is a very gorgeous dog by the way. She barked at our team when we arrived for shooting but got very friendly afterwards. Anyway, back at Sam and Dalvin. They had their wedding ceremony at the beautiful Little Bay Chapel and had their reception at the WatersEdge, The Rocks.
There was two very unique things on their wedding day. The dog, coco was the ring bearer, and they used the Superman theme song as their grand entrance song.. how good is that????
Anyhow, I hope you’ll enjoy this cute and fun clip
My first 7D footage, a Wedding Same Day Edit
by admin on Oct.18, 2009, under Weddings
Yesterday I took my newly acquired Canon 7D for a spin with Susanto from PaperCranes to shoot Indra and Natalia’s Wedding.
The Wedding was held at a medieval church in Camperdown, Sydney that had a grand staircase and lit up beautifully on the inside.
Later in the evening, we showed what we have filmed that day on the screen.
So please enjoy, the same day edit of Indra and Natalia’s Wedding all with Canon 7D footage.
Natalia & Indra semi Same-Day Edit Trailer from Paper Cranes Productions on Vimeo.
Filming details:
2 x Canon 7D HD DSLRs at Full HD 25fps
Canon 24-70mm F2.8, Tamron 17-50mm F2.8, Canon 100m Macro, Canon 70-200mm L series, Canon 50mm F1.8, Canon 85mm F1.8
Edited on a Macbook Pro with Final Cut Pro by Susanto of Paper Cranes Productions.
So there you have it, my first footage/video with the Canon 7D. Because of it’s ability to switch lenses, this camera can achieve depth of field that HDV can not reach.
Keep watching this space as I’ll be shooting more and more with the Canon 7D! Tapeless technology is so much easier and faster and the ease of just carrying the DSLR with an extra lens is fantastic!
New Section – Wedding Page
by admin on Oct.02, 2009, under Website Updates, Weddings
Now that I’m working on many more Wedding films, I’ve created a new page called “Wedding Films”.
The link is on the top right menu bar or you can click here to go to it.
This will make it just a bit easier for visitors of my site to watch the collection of Weddings that I have worked on.
Thanks!
Bernard
