May Weddings
by admin on May.16, 2010, under Weddings
Yesterday, I would say was one of the smoothest Weddings I have filmed. It is a great testament to how well organised the bride and groom, Thao and John, planned their day. We were running a bit late in the morning, but as the day went by, things started to catch up and even in the reception, things were running ahead of schedule
There were many romantic and funny moments of the day and there were so many children around, it was cuteness overload. But words can only do so much, so here is Thao and John’s big day, a Same Day Edit shown on their night… again, I would say Santo is one crazy editor, putting footage in the edit that was only shot 30mins prior to being shown!
Did you like that?
Well, that’s not the only Wedding this month. Earlier in May, we shot Lillian and Andy’s Wedding. The ceremony was at the visually spectacular, McMahon’s Point and the reception was at the Shang Ri La. Again, we showed our footage at the reception to a crowd of over 30 tables! Enjoy.
Hhhmmm, seems like Same Day Edits are very popular! And it’s all because of excellent teamwork and an editor that can create an emotional story with the footage he is given. A lot of people can edit, but not many people can edit with meaning into it. I’m starting to not like the term Same Day Edit, or SDE… I think we have to find a nicer name for it so people won’t have to ask us to explain what it is, even though it’s obvious. Maybe something along the lines of “Instant recap” would be better?
Wedding Film Update
by admin on Mar.04, 2010, under Weddings
Haven’t had a chance to post up some wedding films that I shot with Paper Cranes last year, so here they are.
We’re flat out at the moment, well mostly Santo and Dewi, since they got married in December 2009 so there haven’t been much trailers up…
But here are some that are. Enjoy
Kelvin and Tania Cinematic Wedding Trailer (Same Day Edit)
We were given a day of sunshine and wind, but for Kelvin and Tania, thank you for choosing us as your videographer. We are glad that they were happy with the SDE and the evening celebrations were full of heat and entertainment.
THIS MUCH – a prewedding film of James and Thao
James and Thao are a very cute and sweet couple. They are the type of people who appreciate and respect others very much. They wanted their prewedding film to tell the story of how they met each other and how James proposed for Thao’s hand in marriage. We are so proud to tell such a lovely true story and to show the finished film on their reception night 31st October 2009.
Samantha and Dalvin Cinematic Wedding Trailer
Sam and Dalvin are very cute couple. One sentence to describe them “They love their dog COCO so MUCH!!!” ok maybe that’s not a good description, but thats my take on it anyway
Coco is a very gorgeous dog by the way. She barked at our team when we arrived for shooting but got very friendly afterwards. Anyway, back at Sam and Dalvin. They had their wedding ceremony at the beautiful Little Bay Chapel and had their reception at the WatersEdge, The Rocks.
There was two very unique things on their wedding day. The dog, coco was the ring bearer, and they used the Superman theme song as their grand entrance song.. how good is that????
Anyhow, I hope you’ll enjoy this cute and fun clip
July Wedding Shoots
by admin on Aug.05, 2009, under Weddings
The past few months I helped Papercranes film a few weddings by being the 2nd cameraman. Here are a few wedding highlight trailers:
Lisa and Nuno Wedding
This wedding was held in April at a beautiful function centre, Miramare Gardens at Terrey Hills. The shoot was really easy (physically) since the ceremony and reception was all at one place.

Ronald and Crystallyn Engagement
This was one extravagant engagement party held in The Westin Hotel’s ballroom. With 45 tables, there were over 400 hundred guests. With special guests from Indonesia Airlines and the consulate and special performances by an Indonesian Idol contestant and Australia’s own Jessica Mauboy.

Working with Susanto from Papercranes is great. Especially since he keeps getting new toys for me to play with. His latest gadget is the Canon 5D MKII. A digital SLR that can also shoot HD video. If anyone has a spare $5000, please give it to me so that I can have my own 5D baby.
When he brang it to the last wedding we did, Pat and Ley’s, I was hogging it from him the most, trying to get the most beautiful shots that I can get my hands on. He hasn’t made the highlight trailer yet from that wedding, but you can watch the pre-wedding film that he shot.

Live feed and first full SDE

Over the weekend, I got to film a concert at UNSW Roundhouse. It was of a popular Indonesian band, Ungu, organised to come over by the Indonesian Embassy.

Their music was pretty good, even though I didn’t understand any of it.
The next day, Santo (from Paper Cranes) and I worked on the wedding of Gordon and Lina. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t the best… It was pouring during the outdoor ceremony at one stage. But everyone was still happy and the bride was a great host.
It was the first time that we had to do a full same day edit (SDE). So as soon as each part of the day was filmed, we had to transfer each tape across to the laptop for editing later on.
Here is the edit:

Hectic would’ve been the word. It’s awesome that Santo was able to edit this in just only 2 hours. There was some hiccups along the way. Something to remember is that we should play the edit from Final Cut now on as exporting resulting in some distortion and interlacing.
The reception was at LeMontage in Leichardt.
Wedding – Lili and Andrew

Filming a wedding is always special. Seeing the cheers and tears flowing on the happiest day of two individuals.
It’s even more special when I had the chance to film my friend’s wedding.
Congratulations Lili and Andrew, I hope you all the best and happiness in your journey together.
The day was long and it was tough. Especially since myself and the crew at Paper Cranes Production was given the task of filming during the day and showing the footage in the evening… Not just raw footage, but edited to music and a pre-wedding footage.
I give to you, IMAGINE.
